Lux Vegas Magazine - Editor's Pick 2024 - Best Filet Mignon Steak in Las Vegas

There’s something about the magic of Las Vegas that feels unmatched, and I’m not just talking about the lights and excitement. It’s the city’s ability to elevate even the most ordinary experiences to something extraordinary. And that, dear readers, is exactly how I felt after a recent evening at SW Steakhouse at Wynn Las Vegas, where I discovered the best filet mignon I’ve had in years.

Let me set the scene: It was a spontaneous night out with two dear friends, and after a few drinks and a bit of convincing, we found ourselves gravitating towards SW Steakhouse. Now, let me be clear—heading to one of Vegas’s top dining establishments without a reservation, especially during the bustling SEMA convention, is a gamble of its own. But sometimes, lady luck is on your side. We managed to get seated with a mere 20-minute wait. If you’re ever without a reservation, remember: be exceedingly gracious to the host staff; kindness truly goes a long way.

As we sat down, the atmosphere of SW enveloped us—a perfect balance of sophistication and comfort, set against the backdrop of Wynn’s signature elegance. And then, the bread arrived. Let me just say this: SW’s artisan bread is a revelation. Buttery, fresh, and so divinely soft it practically melted on my tongue. They brought out a luxurious slab of butter, but it wasn’t even necessary—the bread was that good. Paired with a glass of wine so smooth I can still taste it, I was in heaven before the main course even arrived.

Since I was there to indulge but not overindulge, I ordered the petite filet mignon, butterflied to perfection. We added sides of crispy fries and decadent creamed spinach to share—a classic, satisfying pairing.

Now, a quick note on the service: superb. Our waitstaff was everything you’d want in a high-end establishment like this—attentive, polished, and wonderfully patient, even as my excited friend gushed about our night out. They let us savor every moment, and when the main event arrived, they made sure it was worth every second of the wait. The filet mignon? Sublime. Perfectly tender, exquisitely seasoned, and, as I like to say, “smooth as butter.” That first bite dissolved in my mouth, instantly erasing any memory of how long we’d waited. They’ve truly perfected the art of steak here—it was rich, flavorful, and cooked precisely to my request.

SW Steakhouse has earned my loyalty after that night. This isn’t just a meal; it’s an experience, a testament to the culinary mastery that makes Las Vegas a dining capital.

My advice to you: Go. Treat yourself to an evening of impeccable food, lively atmosphere, and service that defines the luxury of Vegas dining. Even if it’s just once, you won’t regret it.

To be honest, I questioned my friend's choice in dining that night, before experiencing it for myself. See, I hadn't heard or seen much hype about SW Steakhouse lately, but now it's evident why. They need no hype. As the 'ode to that evening rings a clear memory from what my girlfriend kept chanting that evening, I know that it was a pre-curser to the vibe we'd walk away with: "Don't Talk About It, Be About It." SW Steakhouse ya'll are all about it.
